Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

The MLA is over 1,000 acres of theme gardens, plant, tree and shrub collections, environmental displays and a garden maze located in Chanhassen, MN 15 miles and about 25 minutes from the Sheraton Bloomington.

Reduced gate admission is $5 and you must say you are with the American Homebrewers Association conference. Parking is free.

Tram tours lasting 1 hour are given 4 times each day (10:30 am, noon, 1:30 pm, 3pm) at a nominal charge.  Call 952-443-1400 to reserve a spot.  Wheelchairs are acceptable.

Guided walking tours are given at 10:30 am on weekdays and 1 pm on weekends at no charge. Self-guided tours are always available.  There are tours for families, a leaf tour, bog walk and bird walk among others. Pick up a brochure at the Information Desk in the Oswald Visitor Center.

A restaurant with patio serves soup, salads, sandwiches, pizza, baked/grilled food, wine and beer. A gift and book shop features nature and gardening books, tools, clothes, gifts and toys.

The Horticultural Research Center (HRC) located 1.5 miles west of the main Arboretum grounds develops new varieties of apples and wine grapes. The Apple House at the HRC sells locally grown fruit, flowers, vegetables, cheese and bread as well as gardening gifts and tools.

Directions:
From the hotel take I-494 West to State Hwy. 5 (exit 11C). Follow Hwy. 5 for 9 miles. Just past the intersection of State Hwy. 41 will be a small brown sign on the right side of the road just before the Arboretum entrance. On the left, you will see the large entrance sign. Turn left into the Arboretum. Follow the signs for visitor parking. The Oswald Visitor Center is the large building to the right of the parking area. Go to the Information Desk for detailed maps and information.

Hours: Open year-round except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day from 8 am to 8 pm/sunset (whichever is earlier).
